PATCH REPAIR
Surface patching is a more inexpensive way to repair patches, compared to cutting out and replacing asphalt areas. Removal & replacement patching is a more permanent method of repairing deteriorated asphalt.
This is not always necessary unless the problem is due to base failure (asphalt foundation). In this case removal is required in order to properly compact and prepare the base.
We will clean all edges of the repair area for best tacking results. Once the decayed asphalt has been removed, the base is leveled and compacted. The new fresh asphalt patch is then applied in two layers and compacted for a stable, permanent patch.
Regardless the size of the job, we always apply materials of the highest quality.
HOT RUBBER CRACK REPAIR
Crack repair is very important in asphalt maintenance because it prevents water from entering through the crack to the sub-base of the asphalt. If improperly drained, the water can soften the supporting base and may lead to allegation of the asphalt and potholes, requiring costly future repairs.
The cold Maine climate greatly accelerates the deterioration process due to the freeze-and-thaw action. When temperatures go up, the ice melts and causes holes in the sub-base. Without support, the pavement will eventually cave in.
Hot rubber crack repair is the solution. To achieve maximum bonding, the cracks will first be routed to a width of 1/2" to 5/8", both sidewalls will be routed. Then the cracks will be blown clean and filled with hot pour.
The cracks repair will be guaranteed for one year on all materials and workmanship, with an expected life of three to five years.
